Nursing Care
Skilled services are provided by the Highlands Care Center team, specializing in wound care, IV therapy, rehabilitation, and post operative care. A Registered Nurse is on duty 24 hours a day. Trained professional therapists are on staff to help each resident meet their therapy goals.
Certified nursing assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses provide direct, personal care for each resident. Dietary needs are met and monitored by a registered dietician and the dietary manager. Housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and kitchen staff all work together to make each resident’s stay complete.
An in-service coordinator provides up-to-date training throughout the year to all staff.
Medical care is provided by Board Certified Physicians and supervised by our Medical Director. We are a non-smoking facility.
Rehabilitation
Physical Therapy
The physical therapist provides skilled services to improve mobility, balance, transfers and range of motion for those who require assistance to recover from a decline related to surgery, illness or injury.
Additionally, residents with orthopedic conditions such as low back pain or osteoporosis; joint and soft tissue injuries such as fractures and dislocations; neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, or Parkinson’s disease can benefit from the skill of the physical therapist.
Occupational Therapy
Skilled care is provided to help restore the ability to complete the tasks necessary for activities of daily living. Grooming, dressing, bathing, and routine household tasks are part of occupational therapy. Sometimes adaptive equipment or environmental changes may be necessary to help residents return home.
Speech Therapy
Speech therapists provide care to help the at risk resident improve the ability to swallow, eat, or communicate.
Restorative Nursing
The restorative nursing team helps each individual attain, maintain, or regain skills necessary to promote independence.
Outpatient Therapy
Outpatient therapy provides care before and after surgeries, for debilitating medical illnesses, and for work related accidents for people of all ages. Guardian Rehabilitation offers in-home assessments. The Outpatient Therapy department is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
